Canoe for Kids has meant a great deal to our organization, raising crucial funds for our camp programming. It is also celebrating an amazing milestone – 25 years! In order to keep the community that supports us and our children safe and in following Public Health Guidelines around gatherings, we’ve made the tough decision to not hold a physical canoe race this year - but this doesn’t mean it’s over!

Canoe for Kids is going virtual – and we will be racing … just in a different way! We hope that you will all join us in the Great Canoe Fundraising Challenge! Sign up your team and get fundraising! We will be awarding the highest fundraising ‘Canoe’ great prizes! The fundraising challenge will continue until September 19th, 2020!

Christie Lake Kids has been working hard to stay connected to our families by developing and implementing daily online programming for our kids during these difficult and uncertain times. This year, we ran 6 weeks of virtual and Camp in a Box programming with approx. 50 campers per week. Each day, we hosted a series of live programs with small groups of campers and staff. Campers were guided through hands-on activities and games using the materials in their boxes. Campers also had access to pre-recorded tutorials and activities to complete anytime during the week, using materials provided in the boxes. Our goal was to provide a balance between online and outdoor/offline programming to keep kids engaged in play-based, creative activities and our kids loved every minute of it!

We need your support now, more than ever, to ensure that we can continue to provide our kids with the important social, physical and character building skills and are able to resume our normal programming as soon as it is safe to do so.

So, let’s rally our teams, start fundraising and keep the spirit and momentum that this community has built for the past 25 years ALIVE!
